Your Family’s Health Starts Here: What to Expect at Your Annual Check-Up

Life gets busy — especially in a small town like McCamey, where we all wear a lot of hats, but one of the most important things you can do for your family is schedule yearly check-ups. At McCamey County Hospital District, the McCamey Rural Health Clinic team makes that easy to do and easy to understand.

We’re here to help you catch little problems before they turn into big ones. From babies to grandparents, these visits help us check in, answer questions, and keep everyone feeling their best.

For the Kids

When you bring your child in for their yearly check-up (also called a “well-child visit”), here’s what we’ll take care of:

  • A full physical exam to check their heart, lungs, eyes, reflexes, and more
  • Growth tracking so we can make sure they’re hitting important milestones
  • Vaccinations to keep them safe from preventable but serious illnesses like polio and diphtheria
  • Nutrition and health advice based on your child’s age and needs.

“Protecting our children is a top priority,” said Lisa Anderson, McCamey Rural Health Clinic director. “Well-child visits and timely immunizations help set them up for a healthy future and strengthen our whole community.”

For Adults

An annual check-up gives you time with a provider who knows your health history and cares about your future. We’ll:

  • Check your vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
  • Review your medications and medical history
  • Talk about screenings you may need — like cholesterol, diabetes, or cancer checks
  • Offer real, doable advice on staying healthy — whether that’s improving sleep, nutrition, or lowering stress.

These visits are your chance to stay ahead of problems, not just respond to them. And they don’t take long, but the benefits last all year.

For Seniors

If you’re 65 or older, your annual check-up helps you stay active and independent. We’ll:

  • Do a physical exam that includes things like balance and memory
  • Talk about aging-related screenings (like bone health or vision)
  • Review your medications to make sure everything still works well together
  • Offer support for things like mobility, diet, and staying social.

We know every senior is different, and we’ll work with you to stay healthy your way.
