McCamey County Hospital District Welcomes John O’Hearn, FACHE, as Interim CEO

McCamey County Hospital District (MCHD) welcomes John O’Hearn, FACHE, MHA, as interim chief executive officer. A seasoned healthcare executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, O’Hearn brings deep operational knowledge and a proven track record of driving strategic improvements for hospitals across Texas.

“It’s an honor to serve the community of Upton County and lead such a dedicated team of professionals,” said O’Hearn. “Hospitals like ours are essential lifelines. My goal is to strengthen our operations, invest in our people, and ensure patients have continued access to excellent, compassionate care right here at home.”

O’Hearn has held leadership positions at hospital systems of all sizes — from large tertiary centers to critical access hospitals — guiding organizations through complex operational, financial, and regulatory landscapes. He has extensive experience in clinical operations, strategic development, business planning, and leadership coaching. O’Hearn is also a certified Maxwell Leadership Coach and DISC Consultant, focused on developing strong teams and sustainable organizational cultures.

O’Hearn holds a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University. He previously held executive roles with Baylor Scott & White Health, Select Specialty Hospital, and Medical Center Health System, where he served as chief strategy officer and regional director for the Medicaid 1115 Waiver program.
